WWC2026: Discontinuation of Recorded Accompaniment Category and Establishment of A Cappella Category
Dear Whistlers,
Starting with WWC2026, the Recorded Accompaniment Category will be discontinued, and A Cappella Category will be established.
– The A Cappella Category is for solo whistling performances without accompaniment.
– The A Cappella Category will maintain the same age divisions (Child, Teen, Adult, Senior) as the previous Recorded Accompaniment Category.
– In the A Cappella Category, participants will perform Classical and Popular pieces, as in the previous Recorded Accompaniment Category.
– For the A Cappella Category only, the minimum performance time (per piece) will be changed from 2 minutes to 1 minute 30 seconds. The maximum performance time will remain the same as the previous Recorded Accompaniment Category.
– With this change, solo performances without any elements other than whistling will no longer be permitted in the Allied Arts category. (Other recorded accompanied performances are still allowed.)
Further details will be posted on the official website in the guidelines.
Thank you for your understanding.
