Hello Fellow Whistlers
Congratulations to all. Now is the time for you to start to think about the trip to Japan.
Which Airport in Tokyo to choose
If you have visited Japan before, you may know about this, but for those who are visiting for the first time, here are some tips.
In Japan not everyone uses a car to commute. This is because the train and metro system is well developed, so people just walk to the closest Station and transfer to the train wherever they want to go. (Many Japanese send their luggage home from the airport and return home with the train. The luggage will arrive at home the next day.)
Mizunokuchi Station (Den-en-toshi Line) is the closest train Station to the Event Hall.
It is about a 7 to 10 min walk from the Station.
I should explain that there are 2 International Airports:
HANEDA International Airport (about 20Km to Tokyo Station, South) (about 30 min by train / limousine bus)
NARITA International Airport (about 70 Km to Tokyo Station, East) (1 hour with train / limousine bus)
Either one will work, but I think NARITA will have more flight options.
Take a look here for the location < https://www.narita-airport.jp/en/access >
Transportation System
As I mention previously, the train system is very advanced.
Basically it is split into 2 parts.
JR & Metro
JR (Japan Railway Company) <http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/>
Metro (for Subway Lines)
*The Subways are mainly underground, but some Lines extend and are on ground level.
Here is the link to find the best route to your destination.
You can simulate the route by typing the first station to the destination station on the link below and It will give all the info such as cost, where to transfer, distance, time…

Here is the Tokyo Metro/Subway map:

Mizonokuchi Station (Den-en-Toshi Line) is not in this map, but it is located west from Shibuya Station; its take about 15 min by train, and the ticket costs JPY220.
Limousine Bus is also recommended.
If you prefer to take the Limousine bus from the Airport it is convenient as well, especially when you have luggage.

Choose
From: your Airport
To: your closest area, ex: Shibuya Excel Hotel
and take the Tokyu Den-en-Toshi Line to Mizonokuchi
If you come from JR, here is the Shibuya Station map:

try to find the “Hachiko” dog statue the Tokyu Den-en-Toshi Line Station is located below the biggest scramble crossing in front of Hachiko.
TAXI
Usually the first 2 km cost JPY710, and the cost starts to add from that point. At night the cost is higher, they may charge you the parking fee, highway if used.
Sometimes the cost is cheaper than JPY710; this happens when the driver doesn’t belong to any Company, but is self-employed.
If you catch a taxi from Narita to Shibuya as an example, I believe MK Taxi has a reasonable price of JPY 22.000.

OBS:
I almost forget to mention one important thing. It is safe here, even for a lady traveling alone. Though not 100%, I would say nearly 95%.
